Newrails - Finance & Treasury Manager

About the company

Newrails is a fintech company building financial infrastructure that connects traditional payments with stablecoins. Our regulated EMI platform brings together euro accounts, SEPA payments and EURW, its euro-backed stablecoin, helping businesses and fintechs move money between bank accounts and blockchain networks. We are one of just 2 issuers of an EMT in Lithuania.

Backed by Series A investment from a leading private equity fund, Newrails has an international team split across Lithuania, the UK and Asia.

As the business ramps Newrails is strengthening the operational foundations needed to support more customers, partners and transaction activity.

About the role

We are looking for a hands-on Finance & Treasury Manager to take ownership of key financial processes within Newrails’ Lithuanian business.

Your main focus will be safeguarding customer funds, ensuring accurate daily reconciliations, managing banking relationships and improving how money moves between safeguarding accounts. You will build and document the procedures and controls needed to support a growing regulated business.

Reporting to the CEO in Lithuania and COO in London, you will work with support from a London-based CFO, finance colleagues in Asia and the external accounting provider. You will also help determine which accounting activities should gradually be brought in-house.

This role suits someone with practical financial services experience who wants broad ownership and enjoys building processes from an early stage.

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day safeguarding processes covering customer funds held through Newrails’ account and stablecoin activities.

  • Ensure daily reconciliations are completed accurately, investigate discrepancies and coordinate their resolution.

  • Maintain clear safeguarding procedures, financial controls and supporting records in line with the company’s regulatory obligations.

  • Coordinate safeguarding-related reporting and information requests, working with colleagues to meet Bank of Lithuania requirements.

  • Manage relationships with banks and other institutions holding safeguarded funds, including responding to ongoing data and documentation requests.

  • Oversee treasury activities, monitoring liquidity and supporting decisions on fund allocation and returns within applicable safeguarding requirements.

  • Work with technology and operations colleagues to automate transfers between safeguarding accounts and improve reconciliation workflows.

  • Coordinate with Ecovis and internal finance colleagues on accounting, payroll and supplier payments, supporting the transition of selected activities in-house.

  • Build and improve finance procedures that can support increasing transaction volumes and a growing business.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience in finance, treasury or financial control within an electronic money institution, payments company or another regulated financial services business.

  • Practical knowledge of customer fund safeguarding and how safeguarding arrangements operate within an EMI.

  • Experience with reconciliations, financial controls and investigating differences between systems and account balances.

  • An understanding of treasury management, liquidity and the importance of accurate daily oversight of customer funds.

  • Confidence working directly with banks, external accountants and internal stakeholders on financial information and documentation.

  • The ability to create clear procedures and translate regulatory and operational requirements into reliable daily processes.

  • A collaborative approach, sound judgment and the adaptability to work effectively where processes are still being developed. We are a multi-cultural team, so high EQ is very important.

  • Strong written and spoken English for working across an international team.

  • Experience helping an early-stage business establish processes and automating safeguarding and reconciliation workflows, taking it from 0 to 1, would be a strong advantage.

What we offer

  • Ownership of safeguarding and treasury processes at a growing fintech working across traditional payments and stablecoins.

  • The opportunity to shape the local finance function and build processes that support the company’s next stage of growth.

  • Direct collaboration with the CEO in Lithuania, alongside support from an experienced COO, CFO and international finance colleagues.

  • Exposure to banking relationships, regulated financial infrastructure and the practical financial operations behind a euro stablecoin.

  • Scope to expand your responsibilities as the company grows and more finance activities are brought in-house.
