Chief Operating Officer (COO) at a FinTech company

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our leadership team. The COO will oversee daily operations, ensure compliance with Lithuanian and EU regulations, and drive efficiency, profitability, and growth. This role requires strong operational leadership, deep knowledge of financial services regulations, and the ability to balance execution with strategic vision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Vilnius office, ensuring smooth daily operations and team collaboration.

  • Oversee and structure operational teams, ensuring the right hires are in place.

  • Analyze team and individual performance, guiding improvements and supporting recruitment processes.

  • Support the CEO in developing and executing business plans, budgets, and financial forecasts.

  • Manage financial operations, including payments, invoicing, OPEX calculations, and capital adequacy monitoring.

  • Ensure all operations comply with Lithuanian laws, EU directives, and Bank of Lithuania (BoL) regulations.

  • Collaborate closely with Compliance (CCO) and Technology (CTO) leaders to align strategies.

  • Monitor and improve KPIs related to service delivery, cost efficiency, and operational resilience.

  • Manage third-party providers and ensure compliance with outsourcing requirements.

  • Implement automation tools to optimize workflows and reduce errors.

  • Enhance dashboards and reporting systems to monitor KPIs, KRIs, and OPEX.

  • Maintain strong operational risk controls and ensure compliance with KYC/AML policies.

  • Support CENTROlink operations and regulatory interactions, including BoL visits and audits.

  • Represent the company with partners, service providers, and regulators.

  • Drive continuous improvement across all areas of operations.

Skills & Experience

  • At least 5 years of senior-level experience in the financial sector.

  • Strong knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to electronic money institutions.

  • Hands-on experience in suspicious transaction monitoring and reporting.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with capacity to interpret complex regulatory requirements.

  • High attention to detail, diligence, and strong organizational skills.

  • High integrity, accountability, and a commitment to acting in the company’s and customers’ best interests.

  • Fluency in English; additional languages are an advantage.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, finance, or a related field.
